I played the marimba for three years in an extracurricular activity in elementary school, and from middle school until before entering university, I took private marimba lessons.
In junior high school, I played the flute for three years in the brass band, rather than percussion. I also played the koto for about two years.
I didn't join the brass band club in high school, but I played the flute in a community brass band until I graduated.
In the fall of my first year of high school, I underwent surgery on my arm, took about four months off for rehabilitation, and then played the marimba for about a year with metal plates and bolts in my arm. In the winter of my second year of high school, I had surgery to remove the metal.
...I've had experiences like this too (^_^;)
